The Oswego State women’s lacrosse team fell to No. 9 York College, 13-6, on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Lakers move to 3-2 on the season while York improves to 4-1.

Reigning Oswego State Athlete of the Week Teresa Shattuck led the Laker offense against the Spartans. All four of Shattuck’s shots on-goal found the back of the net, tying her for the game-high in goals. The junior scored two in each half, with her final goal coming just 19 seconds before the end of the contest. Shattuck also controlled two draws, a team-high. The Syracuse native leads the Lakers with 22 draw controls this season.

Montana Garrett and Brigid Regin scored the Lakers’ other two goals, with Garrett dishing out an assist as well. Gemma O’Kane also picked up an assist in the Lakers’ efforts.

Goalie Angela Ponto played all 60 minutes in the net for Oswego, collecting 10 saves. The senior picked up seven ground balls, tying her career high which she has achieved twice before.

Oswego returns to the turf at 4 p.m. on Saturday when it hosts Utica. The contest will be the Lakers’ final nonconference matchup before starting SUNYAC play.
